GLN Graduate Programme

The real graduation happens when you step across the threshold from student to fully-fledged professional

The Government Legal Network offers challenging and diverse career pathways and we recognise the value in attracting and developing talented young lawyers with excellent emerging leadership.

If you are keen to accelerate your development by experiencing multiple practice areas in a variety of departments and Crown entities, the GLN Graduate Programme could be the perfect platform on which to build your rewarding career.  Featuring a two-year structure, the programme involves four rotations of six-month duration in legal teams across government and offers access to exceptional mentoring and fascinating work.

The Network is focused on investing in our graduates and encouraging them to reach their full potential.  Our programme is designed to foster both technical and leadership skills - team hierarchies are flat, the environment is collegial and the opportunity to work where the laws are made means that, right from the start of your career, your contribution will inform outcomes that shape New Zealand as a whole.

Recruitment for the 2018-2020 GLN Graduate Programme has closed but if you are keen to find out more about the programme, please read the guideline document below.  A decision regarding a 2019-2021 programme will be made later this year and, if the programme is confirmed, recruitment will open in March 2018,  If you are interested in being notified of upcoming graduate recruitment, please pre-register your interest by emailing
